Inspired by a combination of Akira Kurosawa films, the history of feudal Japan and the technology popular in futuristic anime shows, Samurai 7 is an alternate-reality action series that follows seven very different samurai as they navigate a world that expertly blends traditional Japan with mechs, airships and robots. Similar to Seven Samurai, this anime revolves around a village that is constantly under the threat of raids. Being unable to defend themselves, the villagers seek out Samurai that are willing to protect them and their crops. After a long search they end up putting together a rag-tag group of warriors. But can these down-on-their-luck Samurai truly defend the helpless villagers from the dangerous threats of bandits and raiders?
