Two teams square off to race their drag cars for a 3 out of 5 race for pink slips. The winner is awarded the loser's car. I caught this show the other night and had to make a few comments. I used to drag race in the late 60's early 70's on the street and the strip. First it is supposed to have a 50's setting yet the cars I saw had many modern tricks like nitrous, modern big slicks, and tricked out suspensions. However, they used the old flag man start instead of a Christmas tree. But the main thing for me was that it seemed the drivers and the mechanics didn't have a clue. I mean the mechanics were using adjustable wrenches to do everything. Being an old time mechanic an adjustable wrench was a last resort and was almost considered a joke wrench. Not a combination wrench or ratchet in sight. Ha,ha. They did not have one single complete race because one or the other car broke on every race. Also the drivers and crew were doing more arguing than racing it seemed like. I guess this show is good for rookie and wann...

I guess this show is good for rookie and wannabe drag racers. It was a big joke to me and probably is more so to the modern serious drag racer. Caught another show tonight and have one comment. The guys watching for the winner at the other end evidently are blind. They almost always make a mistake as to how many car lengths the winner won by. Tonight you could plainly see(camera is to the side at the end) the guy win by at least 4 car lengths or more and the guy said he won by 2. They are always doing this. Oh well. But it does seem the crews have gotten a little more savvy lately although they still argue a lot.
