The Crow: Stairway to Heaven is a television series that further explores the life of Eric Draven as well as the empathic connection that exists between soul-mates Eric and Shelly following their murders, a year prior to Eric's return to the land of the living after having no choice but to leave Shelly in the "land of the dead." Unlike the movie, Eric does not return to Shelly immediately after taking care of the men who murdered them. The new spin used in the series was that he had to continue to right wrongs until earning the right to return to be with Shelly forever although the round glass window where Eric is thrown to his death serves as a portal that on occasions allows he and Shelly to communicate throughout the series.
The television series is a further exploration of the story based on the movie starring Brandon Lee as Eric Draven in The Crow. Both the film version and the television series are loosely based on the graphic novel written by James O'Barr. The Crow is best know for being the breakout role for Brandon Lee; sadly enough, it is more equally recognized for the accident that occurred on the set in Wilmington, NC, where Brandon Lee died in an accident while filming. Mark Dacascos also received a great deal of acclaim for his resurrection of the role of Eric Draven in the television series; however, the series ended after only 1 season featuring 22 episodes.
